Lagos Police Reinforce Ban on Covered Number Plates

Last week, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundar Jimoh, announced a renewed ban on the use of covered vehicle number plates and tinted glass in the state. This announcement was made during a press briefing and follows direct orders from the new Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu.

Jimoh emphasized that there is no better time for the police to enforce this ban, especially given the current massive insecurity issues in Nigeria. He noted that the enforcement would be serious and that the police culture would need to change to comply with these directives.

The announcement comes after past experiences where police personnel were accused of sabotaging orders from previous IGs, leading to public complaints about harassment and extortion of motorists. Jimoh's statements reflect a commitment to addressing these issues and ensuring compliance among police officers.
