Agama Re-elected IOSCO Vice Chair for 2026-2028 Term

Emomotimi Agama has been re-elected as the Vice Chair of the IOSCO Africa and Middle East Regional Committee, as announced by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Nigeria. His second term will span from 2026 to 2028, solidifying Nigeria's influence within the global securities industry.

This re-election allows Nigeria to maintain its critical seat on the IOSCO board, which is the highest policy-making body of the organization. The SEC noted Agama's pivotal role in ensuring that Nigeria's regulatory priorities are represented in global financial market discussions.

In his statement, Agama highlighted specific goals for his new term, including enhancing Nigeria's ability to contribute meaningfully to global regulatory dialogue, particularly in enforcement, market integration, and investor protection. He aims to create a stronger platform for collaboration on cross-border regulatory issues, tackle illicit financial flows, and strengthen supervisory frameworks.

Established in 1983, IOSCO comprises regulators representing 95 percent of the world’s securities markets.
