Adeleke Campaign Urges Police Neutrality Ahead of Election

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) for the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun has called on Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu to ensure the protection of residents in the lead-up to the August 15 governorship election. Kolapo Alimi, the Deputy Director-General of the campaign council and Commissioner for Information, made this appeal during a news conference in Osogbo.

He emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law, maintaining professional neutrality, and protecting citizens' rights to preserve public confidence in the police and democracy. Alimi alleged that members of the Accord political party were being targeted for arrest by the opposition and urged the Inspector-General to investigate these claims of arbitrary arrests and harassment.

He encouraged Accord Party stakeholders and citizens to remain calm and vigilant, asserting their constitutional right to vote. Alimi requested that the police high command review the deployment of security personnel to ensure only professional and neutral officers are on duty.
