Anambra Agency Rescues Two Children, Arrests Trafficker

The Anambra State Special Anti-Tout Squad apprehended 42-year-old Sundai Nomen, identified as a suspected child trafficker, during an operation in Nkpor, Idemili Local Government Area. The operation, led by spokesperson Karen Jame, resulted in the rescue of two children aged three and eight.

Nomen is believed to belong to an interstate child trafficking ring that specializes in selling children aged six months and older to interested buyers. The operation was initiated based on credible intelligence that indicated Nomen was negotiating the purchase of children for N3.5 million.

During interrogation, he confessed to purchasing the children and revealed that they were temporarily lodged in a hotel in Nkpor while awaiting further arrangements with his accomplice, identified as Mr. Uju, who allegedly introduced him to the illicit trade.

This operation underscores the agency's commitment to combating crime and protecting vulnerable residents across Anambra State.
