Onyeani Calls for Unity in Nigerian Football Development

Dr. Robert Onyeani, the Chief Executive Officer of Ahudiyannem FC, has called for unity among stakeholders in Nigerian football to enhance the sport's development.

His appeal follows the recent failures of the Super Falcons and Super Eagles to qualify for the World Cup and comes as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) prepares for elections on September 27 in Katsina. Onyeani stressed that the lack of unity has detrimental effects on football, urging stakeholders to collaborate and create a roadmap for the future.

He highlighted the importance of discovering and nurturing grassroots talent, stating that Nigeria has significant potential outside traditional football centers. Onyeani's commitment to grassroots football is reflected in Ahudiyannem FC's recent victory in the 2025 Abia State FA Cup, where they triumphed over established teams like Abia Warriors and Enyimba FC.

He believes that current challenges should be viewed as opportunities for rebuilding rather than fostering divisions.
