CP Azar Advocates Mentorship for Future Police Leaders

On Wednesday, during a conference at the Akwa Ibom State Command headquarters in Uyo, Commissioner of Police Baba Moh Azar called on senior police officers to adopt mentorship as a fundamental leadership responsibility. He emphasized that the future strength and credibility of the Nigeria Police Force depend significantly on the quality of leadership cultivated today.

Azar stated that mentorship is a critical tool for developing capable, disciplined, and service-oriented officers who can sustain the vision and values of the force. He highlighted the dual responsibility of senior officers to guide and coach younger personnel for future leadership roles.

The Commissioner stressed the importance of transferring knowledge and operational experience, noting that effective policing requires practical experience and exposure rather than solely formal classroom instruction. He urged senior officers to maintain ethical standards and uphold human rights, as their conduct directly influences public confidence in the police.
