Air Peace Sued Over Business-Class Upgrade Policy

Dr. Sheriff Abiodun Adesanya has filed a lawsuit against Air Peace Limited in the Federal High Court in Lagos, challenging the airline's business-class upgrade policy, which he claims is unlawful.

The suit, marked FHC/L/CS/364/2026, raises concerns about the airline's transparency and passenger rights under Nigeria's aviation sector. Adesanya alleges that he paid for a business-class upgrade for a flight from London to Lagos but received economy-class service, including meals and service typically associated with economy class, despite being seated in a business-class cabin.

The case questions whether the airline can lawfully sell business-class upgrades without disclosing the limited services associated with such upgrades. Adesanya seeks several declaratory reliefs, including a refund and damages for the alleged failure to provide services commensurate with the upgraded class.

Air Peace's counsel, Chief Oluwol Afolabi, has filed a preliminary objection to strike the suit, arguing that it involves a dispute over service provision requiring oral evidence. The matter remains pending in court.
