Ondo Governor Defends Flyover Project Amid Tinubu's Remarks

On Monday, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State launched a 2.38-kilometre flyover project at Oba Adesida Road in Akure, asserting that it is not among the "white elephant" projects President Bola Tinubu criticized. Aiyedatiwa emphasized that Tinubu did not instruct governors to halt flyover constructions but rather advised against unnecessary projects in low-traffic areas.

He stated that the Akure flyover is essential for easing traffic congestion in a busy urban area that connects key markets, financial institutions, and residential neighborhoods. Aiyedatiwa urged the public not to misinterpret the President's comments and highlighted that the project aligns with his administration's urban renewal and infrastructural development agenda.

He acknowledged the increased funding available to states from the Federation Account, which supports such necessary infrastructure projects.
