Ondo Government Defends Aiyedatiwa Against Allegations

The Ondo state government has refuted allegations that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is engaging in anti-party activities ahead of the 2027 general elections. These claims were deemed false, misleading, and politically motivated, particularly following the circulation of photographs showing Aiyedatiwa with Senator Ayo Akinyelure, the African Democratic Congress candidate for Ondo Central Senatorial District, at the Government House Chapel in Akure.

Chief Press Secretary Ebenezer Adeniyan stated that the meeting was misrepresented as disloyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and aimed to create unnecessary controversy. Adeniyan clarified that the Government House Chapel is a public worship space accessible to all Nigerians, regardless of political affiliation.

The visit was characterized as a gesture of courtesy, with Akinyelure expressing gratitude to Aiyedatiwa for his goodwill message at Akinyelure's 70th birthday celebration. The government reaffirmed Aiyedatiwa's commitment to the APC and its candidates, stating he will collaborate with party structures to ensure electoral success in Ondo state.
