LAWMA Enforces Waste Compliance in Ajah-Lekki Markets

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has initiated compliance enforcement for several markets and facilities in the Ajah-Lekki Axis due to ongoing violations of waste management regulations. Mukaila Sanusi, the Director of Public Affairs at LAWMA, announced this in a statement.

Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, listed the facilities under scrutiny, including Kodak Moment, Bayrock Lifestyle, and Amazon Farm, among others. Gbadegesin emphasized that while LAWMA has engaged with these facilities to secure compliance, enforcement measures will be taken against those who continue to default.

He reiterated the importance of compliance for maintaining a clean environment and preventing indiscriminate waste disposal. This enforcement action follows a monitoring exercise conducted on August 25, 2026, where illegal structures obstructing roadways were removed, and Issa Imamu Market was sealed due to persistent waste disposal issues.
