LAWMA Launches Sanitation Drive in Apapa-Ajegunle Corridor

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) intensified its Emergency Deep Clean Lagos initiative with a large-scale sanitation exercise along the Apapa-Ajegunle corridor on July 20. The operation commenced at approximately 6 am and lasted for about three hours, covering key areas including Marine Beach, NAFDAC, Mobile, Agbo-Malu, Arakan Barracks, and Ashanti Barracks.

The primary focus of the exercise was to evacuate accumulated waste, clear environmental black spots, and restore cleanliness to strategic locations along the corridor. LAWMA stated that this operation is part of its ongoing campaign aimed at improving environmental sanitation, promoting public health, and maintaining cleaner road corridors across Lagos State.

To enhance operational capacity, LAWMA deployed additional support trucks to facilitate quicker waste evacuation and sustain cleaner public spaces. The agency urged residents and businesses to support the initiative by utilizing their assigned Private Sector Participant operators and avoiding indiscriminate waste disposal.
