Akpabio Swears in Four New Senators After By-Elections

On Wednesday, Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, swore in four newly elected senators after by-elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The newly inaugurated senators are Olaka Nwogu from the People's Democratic Party representing Rivers South East, Ikeja Asogwu from the All Progressives Congress representing Nasarawa North, Dayo Faduyile from the All Progressives Congress representing Enugu North, and Jimoh Ibrahim, who fills the vacancy created by the appointment of a former senator.

The elections were held last Saturday to fill the vacancies left by the deaths of former senators Barinada Mpigi and Godiya Akwashiki. During the swearing-in ceremony, Akpabio congratulated the new senators and urged them to prioritize national interests in their legislative duties, reminding them of their responsibilities as representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
