Four New Senators Sworn In After By-Elections in Nigeria

On Wednesday, Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, administered the oath of office to four newly elected senators following by-elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission. The newly sworn-in senators are Ikeja Asogwa representing Enugu North for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olaka Nwogu representing Rivers South East for the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Dayo Faduyil representing Ondo South for the APC, and Danladi Envulu Anza representing Nasarawa North for the APC.

The elections were held on Saturday to fill vacancies created by the deaths of previous senators. Notably, the Enugu North seat became vacant after the death of Okei Ezea on November 18, 2025.

Asogwa won with 162,360 votes against PDP candidate Nestor Ezem, who received 9,299 votes. Nwogu emerged victorious in Rivers South East with 47,961 votes, defeating APC candidate Osar Erewari.

Faduyil won the Ondo South seat with 68,474 votes, while Envulu Anza secured 45,362 votes in Nasarawa North, defeating Labour Party candidate Labaran Maku. The inauguration of these senators restores full representation in the affected senatorial districts.
