Keyamo: Akure Airport Breach Not a Targeted Attack

During an interview on EAGLE 102.5 FM in Ogun State, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Keyamo, clarified that the recent security breach at Akure Airport in Ondo State was not a targeted attack. He assured that the airport was not intended to be a victim and explained that preliminary findings indicated individuals involved fled a separate security situation, inadvertently gaining access to a vulnerable section of the airport's perimeter fence.

Keyamo noted that the breach underscored infrastructural gaps, particularly in the airport's fencing, which allowed unauthorized access. He disclosed that a full-scale investigation would be conducted in collaboration with aviation security personnel and law enforcement agencies to establish the true sequence of events.

Keyamo stressed the need for coordination among agencies and warned of potential sanctions for lapses in security oversight. He maintained that the incident was isolated and linked to external security pressures rather than a systemic failure, assuring the public of the safety of Nigeria's aviation system.
