Al-Habibiyyah Islam Society Distributes N30m Zakat in Abuja to Christians and Muslims

Al-Habibiyyah Islam Society in Abuja distributed N30 million worth of items, including sewing machines, grinding machines, freezers, and cash, to 140 recipients as zakat support. The beneficiaries, comprising both Christians and Muslims, received assistance based on Islamic principles. The initiative, held during the 5th National Zakat and Waqf Day, seeks to address poverty and promote equity within society. Imam Fuad Adeyemi, the Chief Executive of Al-Habibiyyah Islam Society, emphasized that zakat disbursement is not just about poverty alleviation but also wealth purification. The program aims to supplement government efforts in combating insecurity and poverty.

Usman Abdullahi Abdulaziz Galadima, the Chairman of AZAWON, commended Al-Habibiyyah for its zakat initiatives and highlighted the importance of public enlightenment on zakat and waqf. Dr. Balarabi Zakari, representing AZAWON, emphasized the role of zakat in reducing poverty, crime, and fostering peace. The proper implementation of zakat and waqf is seen as a significant contribution to the country's GDP, job creation, and youth empowerment.
