Al-Mustapha Refutes Claims on Abacha's Death in Memoir

Major Hamza Al-Mustapha (retd.), the former Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State General Sani Abacha, rejected allegations made in Dennis Amachree's memoir, "The Shadow Warrior," concerning the circumstances of Abacha's death on June 8, 1998. Speaking at the 3rd General Hassan Usman Katsina Memorial Conference at Arewa House in Kaduna, Al-Mustapha described Amachree's account as untrue and asserted that it should not be taken seriously by Nigerians.

He claimed to possess CCTV footage that could disprove Amachree's narrative but did not provide further details on this evidence or its potential release. Al-Mustapha urged the public to ignore the claims, emphasizing the unfairness of accusing someone who is deceased.

General Sani Abacha ruled Nigeria from November 17, 1993, until his death, which has been surrounded by speculation and conflicting accounts from various officials over the years.
