Alaska 2026 Midterms: Unique Senate Race Lineup

Senator Dan Sullivan, former Democratic Representative Mary Peltola, and Daniel J. Sullivan, a convicted federal felon serving a 20-year sentence in New York.

Following the certification of the top-four primary results on September 1, the election rules allow the top four vote-getters from an open, nonpartisan primary to advance to the general election, regardless of party affiliation. This has led to concerns about voter confusion, particularly with the entry of Daniel J.

Sullivan, who shares a name with the incumbent. Republican officials attempted to remove him from the ballot, arguing his candidacy was intended to confuse voters and split the conservative vote.

However, courts ruled he could remain on the ballot as “Daniel J. Sullivan Jr.,” while the incumbent will be listed as “Dan S.

Sullivan (Incumbent).”.
