ALGON Donates 30 Vehicles to Boost Osun Security Efforts

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has donated 30 operational vehicles to security agencies in Osun State to strengthen security operations across the region. The donation was announced by ALGON Chairman for Osun State, Samuel Idowu, during a distribution exercise.

Benefiting agencies include the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), and Nigeria Immigration Service, among others. Idowu emphasized that this initiative demonstrates ALGON's commitment to the security of the state's residents and the importance of local government autonomy in addressing security challenges.

He noted that local governments are crucial in understanding and responding to community-specific security issues. Additionally, Osun State Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan stated that the operational vehicles would significantly enhance the capacity of security agencies to engage in proactive surveillance and respond swiftly to distress calls, ultimately improving overall safety in the state.

ALGON plans to procure a total of 90 new security patrol vehicles by May 2025.
