Osun LG Chairmen Donate 300 Motorcycles to Police

On Tuesday, local government chairmen in Osun State donated 300 motorcycles to the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to enhance operational capabilities. The donation was received at the Osun Command headquarters in Osogbo, representing the Osun State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON).

Ibrahim Gotan, the Osun State Police Commission representative, commended President Bola Tinubu for granting financial autonomy to local governments, which facilitated this donation. Each of the 30 local government areas will receive 10 motorcycles, with allocations also made for the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and local community security groups.

This initiative aims to improve response times and access to difficult terrains, particularly in rural areas, thereby strengthening community policing. Gotan urged security agencies to deploy the motorcycles judiciously to ensure effective service delivery.

The donation underscores the critical role of local government autonomy in enhancing national security.
