Sokoto Governor Aliyu to Grant Traders Post-Reconstruction

On Thursday, Sokoto State Governor Ahmadu Aliyu announced a plan to commence the disbursement of financial grants to traders in Sokoto State following the reconstruction of the burnt sections of the Sokoto Central Market. The market was partially destroyed by a fire that disrupted commercial activities and displaced hundreds of traders, raising concerns about the livelihoods of small and medium-sized business owners who rely on the market for daily income.

Governor Aliyu, speaking during an iftar with leaders of the traders' association, emphasized that grants would only be disbursed once traders have returned to their rebuilt shops. He expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the reconstruction work and reiterated the administration's commitment to restoring the commercial vibrancy of the state.

Aliyu also acknowledged the political support received from the trading community during the 2023 general elections and pledged to prioritize people-oriented policies. Business mogul Alhaji Bello Bulaki commended the governor for reclaiming the market and awarding the reconstruction contract to traders.
