Ex-General and Five Others Plead Not Guilty in Coup Case

On Wednesday, the Federal High Court in Abuja arraigned six defendants, including retired Major General Moham Ibrahim Gana and retired Naval Captain Erasmu Ochegobia, on charges related to an alleged coup against the president. The six individuals, which also include Inspector Ibrahim Zekeri, Umoru Bukar, Kashim Goni, and Abdulkadir Sani, pleaded not guilty to 13 counts brought against them.

The presiding judge, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, ordered an accelerated hearing of the case and scheduled a hearing for bail applications on April 27. The defendants are currently in the custody of the State Security Service, which was ordered to maintain their custody pending the determination of their bail applications.
