Babachir Lawal Critiques SGF Office Over Fake Agency

Babachir David Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has accused the current Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation of failing in its duties by not identifying a purportedly fake agency associated with the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC). Lawal stated that the PFIPC has been operating without legal establishment and that its documents reached President Bola Tinubu without proper due diligence.

He emphasized that the SGF's office should have verified the legal status of agencies seeking official recognition. Lawal pointed out that the PFIPC's budget requests were processed despite its alleged non-existence, raising concerns about potential compromises within the institution.

He argued that without proper verification, it is unlikely for a non-existent organization to gain budgetary recognition. Lawal's comments come amid controversy surrounding the PFIPC and its alleged connections to bribery involving senior government officials.
