ICPC Recommends Prosecution of Adeniyi Adeyemi for Fraud

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has conducted an investigation into Mr. Adeniyi Adeyemi, who allegedly created a fictitious agency named the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC). The ICPC's interim report, submitted to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, indicates that Adeyemi was never appointed by the Federal Government and that the PFIPC lacks any legal foundation.

The investigation found that Adeyemi used forged documents, including an appointment letter and a gazette, to authenticate the non-existent agency. The ICPC has recommended his prosecution, emphasizing that this case is not merely an administrative issue but an assault on the integrity of the Nigerian state.

Additionally, the investigation uncovered two other fictitious agencies linked to Adeyemi's scheme. The ICPC has called for further investigations to identify and prosecute all collaborators involved in this operation, as well as a broader audit of the legitimacy of government agencies in Nigeria.
