Babachir Lawal Compares Amaechi to Wike in Interview

Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, described Rotimi Amaechi, the former Governor of Rivers State and ex-Minister of Transportation, as “another version” of Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. This statement was made during an interview with Symfoni TV released on Saturday, where Lawal responded to questions regarding Amaechi's potential candidacy for the presidency under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and his standing against other political figures such as Peter Obi, President Bola Tinubu, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Lawal criticized Amaechi's political choices as driven by “personal excessive ambition,” stating, “it’s just unfortunate that because of his, maybe personal excessive ambition, he desired to pair with the devil.” Despite his critical remarks about Amaechi's leadership, Lawal expressed a positive personal opinion of him, noting that he is “almost polished, but better than Wike.”.
