Wike Criticizes Amaechi, NBA for Political Bias

On Wednesday, during his monthly media chat in Port Harcourt, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former governor of Rivers State, launched a strong critique against Rotimi Amaechi, asserting that anyone who previously shut down courts is fundamentally unfit to serve as Nigeria’s vice president. Wike specifically referenced Amaechi's past actions in Rivers State, which included shutting down courts and causing a pregnant woman to give birth in prison, arguing that such actions should disqualify individuals from holding sensitive executive positions.

Additionally, Wike condemned the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) for abandoning its role as an impartial defender of justice, claiming it has become politically biased and operates like a political party. He urged Nigerians to scrutinize the past actions of political figures who claim to support democracy and the rule of law before entrusting them with high office.
