Amusan Finishes Fourth as Russell Claims Diamond League Title

At the Diamond League final in Brussels, held on Saturday, Masai Russell won the women's 100m hurdles title with a meet record time of 12.20 seconds. Nigeria's Tobi Amusan finished in fourth place, clocking 12.54 seconds.

Russell's training partners, Devynne Charlton from the Bahamas and Jamaica's Megan Simmonds, secured second and third places, respectively, with times of 12.33 seconds and 12.43 seconds. This race was significant as it marked Russell's first competition since she broke Amusan's world record with a time of 12.09 seconds in Zurich.

Amusan, a three-time Diamond League champion, had previously held the world record for four years after running 12.12 seconds in the semi-finals of the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, Oregon. The Diamond League finale showcased several top athletes, with winners gaining automatic qualification for the upcoming World Athletics Ultimate Championship.
