Anambra, Abia Stakeholders Commit to Peaceful Boundary Resolution

On Thursday, stakeholders from Anambra and Abia states, including Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachi Ibezim and Engr.

Ikechukwu Emetu, convened in Awka with the National Boundary Commission (NBC) to address ongoing inter-state boundary disputes. The meeting, held at the Anambra Country Club, aimed to renew commitments to peaceful resolutions.

Hon. Ekenechukwu Okoy, representing the Anambra State Boundary Committee, emphasized the need for sincere dialogue to resolve boundary issues affecting the livelihoods of people in the region.

Surveyor Adamu Adaji, Director General of the NBC, commended the states for their sustained peace efforts and noted that 15 kilometers of the 23-kilometer common boundary had already been jointly traced. The remaining eight kilometers require technical support to conclude the demarcation exercise.

Chijiok Nwankwo, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Deputy Governor of Abia State, described the meeting as an opportunity to strengthen bonds of peace between the two states. The session concluded with a signed communiqué reaffirming the commitment to dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
