Abia, Anambra States Agree on 15KM Boundary Resolution

During a joint meeting held in Awka, Anambra State, representatives from Abia and Anambra states, including Surveyor Adamu Adaji from the National Boundary Commission, confirmed progress in resolving a boundary dispute. They have successfully traced a 15-kilometer section of the boundary, leaving an 8-kilometer stretch to be addressed.

The meeting emphasized the importance of dialogue and legal procedures to achieve a credible and enduring settlement. Engr Ikechukwu Emetu, representing the Abia State Deputy Governor, and Hon Barr Chijiok Nwankwo welcomed the consensus on the 15-kilometer section, urging for the swift resolution of the remaining corridor.

The National Boundary Commission reaffirmed its commitment to providing technical and administrative support to facilitate the process. The next technical meeting is scheduled for July 1, 2026, to identify practical solutions for the outstanding issues.

Both states expressed their dedication to maintaining peace and good neighborliness among affected communities.
