Anambra Apprentices Arraigned for Employer's Murder

On March 18, 2026, the Anambra State Police Command successfully arraigned two suspects, Chiemeri Aniek, aged 21, and Godwin Nnabuik Nwokporo, aged 21, in connection with the murder of their employer, Ikechukwu Simon Nwite. The incident occurred on February 16, 2026, in Onitsha, when Nwite confronted Aniek regarding the alleged pilfering of funds amounting to millions of naira.

During the altercation, Aniek allegedly struck Nwite on the head with a pestle, resulting in his death. Nnabuik Nwokporo is accused of aiding the crime by providing a bank account for the transfer of 8 million naira, which belonged to the deceased.

The police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that 6 million naira of the stolen funds was recovered from the suspects. Both individuals have been remanded in custody pending further proceedings.

The Anambra State Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice and warned against engaging in criminal activities.
