Anambra Arrests Fake Surgeon Operating Unlicensed Maternity

On Sunday, the Anambra State Ministry of Health arrested a 47-year-old woman, Mr. Onyinyechi Esther Charl, for allegedly operating an unlicensed maternity facility in Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area.

Investigations revealed that Charl had performed caesarean sections and normal vaginal deliveries for several years without the necessary qualifications or licenses. The state commission of health, led by Dr.

Afam Obidik, conducted the arrest during an inspection of the facility, which was subsequently sealed. The local government area chairman, Hon.

Ifeanyi Chinwez, accompanied the health officials and emphasized the need to eliminate illegal medical practices to protect residents' lives. The authorities recovered various medical and surgical instruments from the facility and urged the public to refrain from seeking medical care from unlicensed and unqualified individuals to avoid endangering their lives.
