Anambra Couple Arrested for Alleged Child Abuse Case

Chisom Chukwuker, a 30-year-old woman, and her husband Chukwudi were arrested by the Anambra State Police Command for allegedly abusing a 10-year-old boy in Awada, Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area. The couple is accused of burning the child with plastic, inflicting severe injuries that were visible in a video that circulated widely on social media, triggering public outrage.

Following the incident, the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare took custody of Chisom's infant child for protection. During police interrogation, Chisom reportedly pleaded for the release of her infant, claiming the child was unwell and needed attention.

The Anambra State Police Command, through spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that investigations are ongoing and assured that anyone found culpable will be brought to justice. The police emphasized their commitment to enforcing laws designed to protect children from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
