Anambra State Boosts Ebola Preparedness Amid Concerns

Anambra State is intensifying its Ebola preparedness efforts amid regional concerns by convening a stakeholder meeting in Awka. The meeting aimed to evaluate the state's emergency response framework and identify areas requiring immediate improvement.

Health partners and relevant agencies participated to review existing preparedness structures and strengthen coordination. Dr.

Afam Obidik, the Commissioner for Health, stressed the importance of public awareness in preventing disease transmission and encouraged residents to remain alert and report suspected cases promptly. The meeting highlighted several priority actions, including improving hand hygiene practices and strengthening infection prevention and control measures.

The state is aligning its efforts with nationwide initiatives coordinated by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to enhance Ebola readiness across the country. Anambra State plans to establish isolation treatment facilities and appoint dedicated Ebola preparedness officers to assess response capabilities.

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to work closely with health partners to protect residents from potential health threats.
