Moghalu Resigns from Labour Party Ahead of Anambra 2025 Governorship Race

Professor Kingsley Moghalu has officially resigned from the Labour Party in preparation for the 2025 Anambra State governorship election. His resignation was communicated through a statement released by his Special Assistant, Johnson Okoy, on Monday.

The resignation letter, dated January 26, 2026, was submitted to the Labour Party chairman in Ward Uruagu Nnewi, Anambra State. Moghalu expressed gratitude to the party at all levels for providing him with a platform to contest in the November 2025 off-cycle governorship election.

He did not disclose the reasons for leaving the party but maintained a courteous tone in his letter, acknowledging the support he received from party leaders and members during the election period. Moghalu did not reveal his next political move or whether he intends to join another political party.
