Anambra Monarch Appeals to Soludo Amid Community Crisis

HRM Igwe Dr Joel Maduadichie Egwuonwu (Eze Udo II), the traditional ruler of Umuawulu community in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, has called on Governor Prof Chukwuma Soludo to intervene in a land ownership crisis between two quarters, Enugwu and Umuenu. The feud has resulted in at least one death and numerous arrests.

Although Igwe Egwuonwu is from Umuenu Quarter, he claims to have remained neutral throughout the conflict. He addressed allegations from Enugwu quarter residents who protested, asserting that he supported Umuenu and even called the police to arrest individuals from Enugwu.

He clarified that the police's involvement was due to a physical confrontation that led to injuries. Igwe Egwuonwu emphasized his role as a father figure and urged community members to avoid actions that could disrupt peace, expressing hope for a resolution through the ongoing legal process.
