Anambra Analyst Urges Action Against Church Noise Pollution

Victor Onony, a public affairs analyst residing in Onitsha, Anambra State, has urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo to intervene regarding noise pollution attributed to churches in the American Quarter community. Onony's appeal highlights the disturbances caused by loudspeakers used by various preachers, which disrupt residents' peace at all hours, including early mornings and late evenings.

He emphasized that the noise, which includes preaching and gospel music, poses serious health risks, particularly affecting residents' ear health. Onony criticized the actions of some pastors and preachers, suggesting they act above the law and engage in emotional religious blackmail, creating a nightmare for the community.

He noted that such activities, including crusades and rallies, occur at inconvenient times, leading to widespread misery among residents who seek rest. The American Quarter is recognized as the first European settlement in Onitsha and was home to Nigeria's first president, Dr.
