Anambra Security Forces Kill Six Suspected Secessionists

On Saturday, a joint security team from the Anambra State Police Command conducted an operation in Ogbaru Local Government Area, targeting suspected secessionist hideouts. The operation resulted in the deaths of six suspected armed members of the group after a prolonged gun battle, while others fled with injuries.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga reported that the operation involved personnel from the Nigeria Police Force's Rapid Response Squad, the Department of State Services, the 302 Artillery Regiment, the Nigerian Navy, and community-based operatives. The team trekked for four hours through difficult terrain to reach the identified camp.

One security operative was killed during the encounter, and another was injured due to an explosive device. The operation led to the recovery of two pump-action guns and charms, and the dismantling of the camps associated with the group.

CP Nnanna Oji praised the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the commitment to intelligence-led operations against violent criminal elements.
