NDLEA Arrests 101-Year-Old Woman for Drug Dealing

On 15th August 2026, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested 101-year-old Esther Ogunmabo in Ilisan, Ogun, for engaging in the illicit drug trade. She was found with 90 grams of skunk, which she claimed to sell locally after her provisions shop was destroyed by fire.

Ogunmabo stated that her daughter, residing in Lagos, supplied her with drugs every four days. NDLEA Chairman Brig-Gen Mohamed Marwa (Rtd) ordered that she be granted bail and placed on counselling due to her advanced age, while her daughter was arrested.

Additionally, the NDLEA reported significant drug seizures, including over N4.4 billion worth of synthetic cannabis known as Loud, intercepted at the Apapa and Lekki ports in Lagos. This included two containers shipped from Thailand, marking a new trafficking route for synthetic cannabis into Nigeria.
