Anambra First Lady Calls for Action Against Human Trafficking

Dr. Soludo, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, issued a statement in Awka to mark the 2026 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.

She addressed the theme focusing on the rising threat of human trafficking linked to online scam networks that lure victims with fake job offers. Dr.

Soludo described human trafficking as a severe violation of human rights and emphasized the need for collective action to protect the dignity and rights of individuals. She called for collaboration among governments, security agencies, civil society organizations, and communities to safeguard vulnerable groups, particularly women, children, and unemployed youths.

The initiative promotes programs aimed at protecting these groups and addressing vulnerabilities exploited by traffickers. Dr.

Soludo urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to educate youth about the risks of deceptive recruitment and advised job seekers to verify employment offers. She stressed that combating human trafficking requires investment in education, youth employment, and public awareness campaigns.
