Anglican Bishop Urges Government to Rescue Abducted Pupils

Rt. Rev. James Odedeji, the Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West, has called on the Federal Government to intensify its efforts in securing the release of pupils and teachers abducted in Orir Local Government Area, Oyo State.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the installation of Emmanuel Kolawole as the seventh Dean of the Archbishop Vine Memorial Cathedral in Ikeja, Lagos, Odedeji expressed alarm over the increasing duration of the captives' ordeal. He emphasized the need for the government to act urgently to ensure the safety of the 50 children and teachers who were kidnapped, stating that there is no excuse for the delay in their rescue.

Odedeji suggested that the government seek international assistance, referencing successful past rescues in Nigeria without collateral damage. He also delivered a sermon during the installation service, focusing on obedience to God and the importance of faith in ministry.
