Wild Elephant Kills Hunter in Oyo State Incident

On April 23, 2026, at approximately 15:30 hours, a 50-year-old hunter named Alhaji Muhammadu Bingin was reported missing after an encounter with a wild elephant in Innayin Community, Oyo State. The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that they received a distress call and promptly mobilized local vigilant hunters to the scene.

Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of another hunter, Ibrahim Tijani, aged 45, who had sustained injuries consistent with an elephant attack. He was evacuated to a general hospital in Iwer-Ile for medical examination.

The police urged residents to avoid the affected area and report any sightings of the wild animal to security agencies. The command is taking necessary measures to prevent further harm and is conducting ongoing search operations for the missing hunter, Alhaji Muhammadu Bingin.
