PDP Criticizes APC Campaign Committee's Controversial Members

The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has publicly criticized the composition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Committee. The PDP specifically condemned the inclusion of Zacch Adedeji, the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Dr Betta Edu, and Ngozi Olejeme, among others, in the campaign structure.

Prince Christopher Odianarewo, the Publicity Secretary of the PDP, stated that this inclusion represents a “slap in the face of Nigerians” and raises concerns about the blurring of lines between government institutions and political structures. He emphasized that the FIRS, as a public institution responsible for tax collection, should maintain neutrality and public confidence, rather than being perceived as aligned with a political party.

Odianarewo questioned how the Chief Executive of the FIRS could engage prominently in a partisan campaign council while being responsible for collecting taxes from Nigerians and businesses.
