Ojudu Critiques APC's Presidential Campaign Council List

Babafemi Ojudu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), publicly criticized the composition of the party’s 108-member Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election, which was unveiled on Saturday as part of preparations for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid. In a statement shared on his Facebook page on Sunday, Ojudu expressed concerns regarding the backgrounds of some individuals included in the council.

He described the list as containing a mix of “saints and former sinners, the tried and the tired, reformers and those still awaiting reform.” Ojudu noted that while some names could enhance public confidence, others might raise concerns among Nigerians. He emphasized that a campaign seeking public trust should avoid giving the impression of accommodating controversial figures solely based on their political influence or ability to mobilize supporters.

Ojudu stated, “A campaign seeking the confidence of Nigerians should not appear to be offering political sanctuary to every controversial figure who can command a convoy, finance a rally or mobilise a forest.”.
