APC Schedules Primaries for August 22, 2026 Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that its primary elections will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2026. This decision is to select candidates for four restored State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states, as well as for legislative bye-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta, and Kano states.

The announcement was made through a timetable signed by the APC's National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) restored the four constituencies, which had been suppressed for years, following court judgments.

The affected constituencies in Delta include Abraka, Isoko North II, and Ughelli South II, while Yagba West II is in Kogi State. The bye-elections will cover Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi, Udu State Constituency in Delta, and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano.

The sale of forms will occur from August 18 to August 20, with submission deadlines on August 20. Fees for House of Assembly aspirants total N6m, while House of Representatives aspirants will pay N10m.

Female, youth, and physically challenged aspirants will pay reduced fees.
