APC, ADC, PDP to Field Candidates for 2027 Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are set to field candidates for all 469 National Assembly seats in the upcoming 2027 elections. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is preparing to release the final list of candidates on September 12, 2026, in accordance with Section 32(1) of the 2026 Electoral Act, which mandates the publication at least 60 days before the election date.

Currently, INEC officials are compiling and verifying candidate details, making it challenging to confirm the exact number of candidates. Sources indicate that while the APC, PDP, and ADC have submitted candidates for all seats, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is expected to field candidates for all 109 senatorial seats and 219 House of Representatives seats.

The deadline for candidate substitutions expired on August 22, and the submission of nomination forms closed on August 29, 2026. The publication of National Assembly candidates follows INEC's earlier release of governorship candidates' details.
