INEC Extends Nomination Deadline Amid APC Criticism

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced an extension of the deadline for political parties to upload their nomination lists for the upcoming presidential and National Assembly elections until Tuesday. This decision was made following requests from the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), which argued that many parties were unable to meet the original deadline due to technical issues.

Felix Morka, the APC's Public Secretary, criticized INEC's decision, claiming it was influenced by pressure from opposition parties and demonstrated incompetence. Morka stated that the APC had met the original deadline and accused the opposition of being unprepared.

Dr. Yusuf Mamman Dantal, the National Chairman of IPAC, welcomed the extension, emphasizing the need to prevent disenfranchisement of candidates.

The APC's stance reflects a broader concern about the electoral process's integrity, while the PDP confirmed successful uploads of its presidential candidate's details.
