APC Chairman Commends Tinubu on State Police Initiative

Dr. Oluwatosin Ademola Ojo, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Mpumalanga Province, South Africa, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to establishing state police in Nigeria.

Ojo described this initiative as a landmark step in enhancing the country's internal security architecture. He stated that state police would complement the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies in addressing insecurity.

Ojo emphasized the necessity of placing funding for state police on a first-line charge to ensure sustainable financial support for personnel, training, logistics, and operational effectiveness. He praised President Tinubu's decision as bold and timely, reflecting a commitment to constitutional reforms and innovative policies to tackle security challenges.

Ojo urged state governors to prioritize the welfare of state police personnel and cautioned against politicizing the new security structure. He expressed confidence that state police would improve community policing and reduce crime, calling on Nigerians to support the security architecture by reporting suspicious activities.
