Governor Alia Faces Challenges with APC Nomination List

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State is encountering difficulties with the APC nomination list, as his last-minute efforts to regain influence over candidate selections have faltered. Alia met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC National Chairman Nentaw Yilwatda to express concerns regarding the list submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The list has reportedly faced discontent within the party, particularly after the recent primaries where candidates like Gabriel Suswam and Benjamin Aber were selected over Alia's loyalists. The APC National Working Committee (NWC) is scheduled to meet to review the nominations before the Saturday deadline for submission to INEC.

Alia's attempts to reverse the nominations have been met with resistance, and he is expected to continue discussions in Abuja to seek a favorable outcome.
