APC's Plan to Detain El-Rufai Until 2027 Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) plans to release former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai only after the 2027 elections. Abdullahi emphasized that the APC understands the strength of the opposition and believes that keeping El-Rufai in custody serves their interests.

He criticized the APC for making it difficult for El-Rufai to be granted bail, arguing that the ADC does not oppose anyone with a legitimate case to answer in court. Abdullahi pointed out that holding someone in custody for a bailable offense without arraignment is unjust and creates conditions that seem deliberately intended to keep the individual detained.

He concluded that the ADC believes the APC will not release El-Rufai until after the elections, indicating a strategic motive behind his continued detention.
