APC's Ikej Asogwa Wins Enugu North Senatorial By-Election

Ikej Asogwa of the All Progressives Congress emerged victorious in the Enugu North senatorial by-election held on June 20, 2025, with a total of 162,360 votes. He defeated his closest rival, Chief Nestor Ezem of the People's Democratic Party, who garnered 9,299 votes.

The election was conducted to replace the late Senator Okei Ezea, who previously represented the district. The results were announced on Sunday by Prof.

Christian Ezeib, Dean of Student Affairs at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Asogwa's victory reflects significant support from residents across the six local government areas in the Enugu North senatorial zone.

The total number of registered voters in the district was 727,340, with 184,094 accredited voters. Other candidates included Chika Idoko Emmanuel of the African Democratic Party with 1,676 votes, Kingslei Anek of the Boot Party with 1,607 votes, and Ejik Simon Eze of the Labour Party with 1,027 votes.
