APC Wins Ungogo Bye-Elections Amid Low Voter Turnout

The All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious in the Ungogo Municipal Assembly bye-elections held on Saturday in Kano State. APC candidate Aliyu Nabil Daneji received 7,484 votes to secure a seat in the Kano State House of Assembly, as announced by Prof.

Ibrahim Tajo Siraj. Similarly, in the Ungogo constituency, APC candidate Aminu Sa'ad garnered 8,975 votes, clinching victory as declared by Prof.

Ali Tijjani Abdullahi. Reports indicated a significant low voter turnout, attributed to widespread apathy among residents, with major opposition parties such as the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and African Democratic Congress (ADC) not featuring on the ballot.

Ambassador Abdu Zango, representing the Kano State Electoral Commission, noted that the low turnout was due to time constraints and limited participation from political parties. He described the elections as generally peaceful and devoid of violence, dismissing any insinuations regarding the absence of major opposition parties, and confirmed that INEC did not receive any formal complaints.
